National Sports Authority Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the Accra Sports Stadium has been closed down.
Speaking in an interview, Ampofo Ankrah clarified that the stadium remains open and is currently hosting the ITF World Tennis Championship.
He explained that work is currently ongoing on the stadiumβs grass pitch to ensure it is in a stable, robust and firm condition ahead of upcoming qualifiers.
βThe stadium has not been closed down. It is just the pitch that is currently being worked on.β
Ampofo Ankrah also urged members of the public to respect restricted areas and avoid unnecessary trespassing while the pitch maintenance work is underway.
He expressed surprise at the reports suggesting the entire stadium had been shut down, stressing that the Accra Sports Stadium remains operational.
