Ghana international Alexander Djiku has thrown his full support behind Kojo Oppong Peprah’s move to Fenerbahçe, backing the young centre-back to develop into an important player for the Turkish giants.
Djiku, who previously played for Fenerbahçe and experienced life in Istanbul, was full of praise for his 22-year-old compatriot following Peprah’s move from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
Peprah earned his transfer to Fenerbahçe after an impressive campaign with Nice, where he established himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
“Of course, I know Kojo Peprah Oppong,” Djiku said. “He’s a good player. He had a really good season at Nice and was one of the team’s best players. He’s an athletic centre-back, and he’s also very good with the ball.”
Djiku believes Peprah’s age gives him significant room for improvement and expects the defender to benefit greatly from his time in Turkey.
“He’s still young, so he has plenty of room to develop, and I’m sure he’ll learn a lot at Fenerbahçe,” Djiku added. “I think he’s a very good signing for the club.”
Peprah, who is yet to make his senior debut for Ghana despite his impressive club performances, will now look to establish himself at Fenerbahçe under head coach José Mourinho.
The move represents an important step in the 22-year-old’s development, with Djiku confident that the Turkish giants can provide the ideal environment for Peprah to continue developing his abilities.
The former Fenerbahçe defender also reflected fondly on his own time in Istanbul, while sending a warm message to the club’s passionate supporters.
