Ghana international Alexander Djiku has backed compatriot Kojo Oppong Peprah to enjoy a successful spell at Turkish giants Fenerbahce following his permanent move to the Istanbul-based club.
The highly-rated centre-back has completed a transfer reportedly worth more than €10 million, bringing his brief spell with French side OGC Nice to an end.
Peprah joined Nice last summer and quickly established himself as an important member of the team. The 22-year-old made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring once, with his impressive performances attracting interest from Fenerbahce.
Djiku, who previously played for Fenerbahce and knows the demands of Turkish football, believes Peprah possesses the qualities required to thrive at the club.
“Of course, I know Kojo Peprah Oppong. He’s a good player. He had a really good season at Nice and was one of the team’s best players,” Djiku told Fanatik.
“He’s an athletic centre-back, and he’s also very good with the ball. He’s still young, so he has plenty of room to develop, and I’m sure he’ll learn a lot at Fenerbahce. I think he’s a very good signing for the club,” he added.
Djiku also reflected fondly on his time at Fenerbahce and Istanbul, while sending his best wishes to his fellow Ghanaian ahead of his new challenge in Turkey.
“I hope he succeeds. I have great memories of Fenerbahce and Istanbul. Sending my love to the Fenerbahce fans,” he said.
Peprah was part of the Ghana squad that featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where the Black Stars reached the Round of 32 and progressed beyond the group stage for the first time since their memorable campaign at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The defender will now turn his attention to settling into life in Istanbul and adapting to the demands of Turkish football as he looks to build on his impressive season in France.
With the backing of a former Fenerbahce player in Djiku and growing expectations surrounding his move, Peprah will be hoping to establish himself as a key figure in the club’s defence and continue his rapid development at one of Turkey’s biggest clubs.
