Former Black Stars team manager Ameenu Shardow has been appointed head of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Strategic Diaspora Programme, as the association moves to strengthen its engagement with Ghanaian football talent abroad.
According to an official notice from the GFA, the appointment forms part of a strategic initiative aimed at identifying Ghanaian players overseas and building stronger relationships with football stakeholders within the diaspora.
Shardow will oversee efforts to engage players born or raised outside Ghana while developing closer links with diaspora-based clubs, academies and Ghanaian communities.
In his new role, the experienced football administrator will work with key stakeholders involved in the identification and development of Ghanaian talent abroad.
His responsibilities will include collaboration with the GFA Technical Directorate, Ghanaian diplomatic missions, parents of Ghanaian players overseas, scouts and the National Teams Department.
The initiative is expected to provide a more coordinated pathway for identifying diaspora-born players and supporting their integration into Ghana’s various national teams.
Shardow’s previous experience in team management and player relations is expected to contribute to the GFA’s efforts to strengthen its diaspora talent identification and development structure.
Meanwhile, the GFA is expected to announce a new team manager for the Black Stars in due course.
