Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey has suffered an injury setback and was ruled out of Ludogorets’ 1-1 home draw against Slavia Sofia in the Bulgarian top flight last Saturday.
The 28-year-old reportedly picked up the injury on the eve of the fixture, forcing head coach Thomas Reis to leave the Ghana international out of his squad.
The extent of Tekpetey’s injury remains unclear, with Ludogorets expected to conduct further assessments to determine the severity of the setback and how long he could be sidelined.
The Bulgarian champions will be hoping the winger makes a quick recovery and becomes available for their next league assignment against Spartak Varna on Sunday, August 30.
Tekpetey has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, establishing himself as one of Ludogorets’ key attacking players. He has made seven appearances across all competitions, registering three goals and three assists.
His absence against Slavia Sofia was therefore a significant blow to Reis, who has relied on the Ghanaian’s pace, creativity and attacking threat.
Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Caio Vidal returned to action after spending almost three months on the sidelines with an adductor injury.
Vidal underwent surgery in Spain during his rehabilitation and was included in the Ludogorets squad for the first time since sustaining the injury.
Ludogorets will now closely monitor Tekpetey’s recovery and await further medical updates as they determine whether the Ghana international will be fit for Sunday’s trip to Varna.
