Ghana's Black Queens have wrapped up preparations for their opening match of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) against Cape Verde, with the squad looking focused and confident ahead of the crucial encounter.
The team completed their final training session on Tuesday, putting the finishing touches on their preparations as they aim to begin the tournament on a winning note.
A positive result against Cape Verde would provide Ghana with a strong platform in Group C and significantly strengthen their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has made the team's ambitions clear, insisting that the Black Queens are not travelling to Morocco simply to participate but to compete for the title.
"We have three targets. The first is to qualify from the group stage. The second, which is very important, is to reach the semi-finals because that will qualify us for the World Cup. If we achieve that, then we have to go all the way and win WAFCON," the Swedish tactician said in his pre-match interview.
With confidence high in camp and preparations complete, the Black Queens will be aiming to make a strong statement when they face Cape Verde in their tournament opener.
The match will be played at the Moulay Rachid Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
