Ghana Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has praised his players for showing character, determination and passion in their impressive 3-1 victory over South Korea at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Black Princesses bounced back strongly on Wednesday after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Ecuador in their opening Group C fixture.
With their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage at stake, Ghana produced a spirited display against South Korea to secure all three points and revive their campaign.
Sampson was particularly impressed with the mentality of his players, praising their belief in themselves and their teammates.
“Today, the team actually really showed up. They showed up with the character that we know they have in the team. They believe they have for themselves and each other. And today, they exhibited it exactly how it should be, with a lot of enthusiasm and passion.
“And they made up their mind that we're gonna take this day, and that's what happened,” the Black Princesses coach told GFA Media.
The victory has moved Ghana into second place in Group C, keeping their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
The Black Princesses will now turn their attention to their final group-stage encounter against France, knowing another positive result could be crucial to their chances of advancing to the next round.
Sampson will be hoping his players can carry the same fighting spirit and determination into the decisive clash as Ghana look to continue their impressive response to the opening-day setback.
