Coachhene Sports Club has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, as the organisation seeks to deepen its contribution to grassroots sports and youth talent development in Ghana.
The delegation was led by the club’s President and Founder, Emmanuel Afranie Jnr., son of the late legendary Ghanaian football coach Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie.
The delegation also included investors Bader Al-Akkad of Phoenix United FC in Dubai, Radcliffe FC owner Marcus McCabe, and Radcliffe FC ambassador Terry Williams.
The visit provided an opportunity for Coachhene Sports Club to formally introduce its operations to the Ministry and explore potential areas of collaboration in developing young sporting talent across the country.
Based in Manchester, United Kingdom, Coachhene Sports Club was established five years ago and has reportedly assisted more than 40 young footballers in securing opportunities at professional academies, including those affiliated with Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The organisation has now expanded its operations to Ghana, with plans to identify and develop young athletes at no cost while organising youth development programmes and grassroots tournaments.
Afranie reaffirmed the club’s commitment to nurturing local talent and contributing to the continued growth of Ghana’s rich sporting heritage.
Minister Kofi Iddie Adams welcomed the delegation and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting grassroots sports development and creating opportunities for young athletes.
“Ghana’s strength lies in our youth and their talent. We are eager to work together to create opportunities for our young athletes,” he said.
The Minister also highlighted the reestablishment of the Winneba Sports College and emphasised the importance of reliable data systems and well-trained personnel in building a stronger and more sustainable sports development structure in Ghana.
The engagement is expected to pave the way for further discussions between the Ministry and Coachhene Sports Club on initiatives aimed at identifying, nurturing and providing opportunities for emerging sporting talents across the country.
