Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly preparing to open discussions with Ansgar Knauff over a new contract, despite the winger’s current deal with the club running until 2028.
According to reports from Bild, Frankfurt are keen to begin negotiations with the 24-year-old during the current season as they look to secure his long-term future.
Knauff has steadily established himself as an important member of the Frankfurt squad, with his versatility and willingness to contribute to the team earning him recognition within the club.
The German winger joined Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2022 and has since become a popular figure among the club’s supporters.
His ability to operate in different positions, combined with his work rate and team-oriented approach, has strengthened his importance to the Bundesliga side.
However, there is no immediate pressure to conclude a new agreement. Knauff has only recently returned from a thigh injury and is currently focused on regaining full fitness and match sharpness.
The winger is also targeting valuable playing time during the international break, including a friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig, as he continues his return to full fitness.
“I want to find my rhythm. Above all, I want to collect minutes in the friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig. Then I want to return after the break fully fit and attack again,” Knauff said.
Eintracht Frankfurt are expected to continue monitoring his progress before formally advancing discussions over a possible contract extension.
With his current agreement already running until 2028, the club have time to assess his fitness and performances before deciding on the next stage of negotiations.
