Ghanaian midfielder George Asamoah has completed a move to Cypriot club Ethnikos Assias on a free transfer from MEAP Nisou.
The 28-year-old completed the switch on September 9, 2026, and has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until May 31, 2027.
Born in Accra, Asamoah has spent much of his recent career in Cyprus, where he has established himself as an experienced midfielder.
He joins Ethnikos Assias after four years with MEAP Nisou, having initially moved to the Cypriot side from Ghanaian club Great Olympics in August 2022, also on a free transfer.
During his time in Cyprus, Asamoah has accumulated considerable experience across the country’s football divisions. He has made 64 appearances in the Cypriot second division, scoring once, while also recording 62 appearances in the Premier League, where he contributed four goals and two assists.
The midfielder has also featured in promotion and relegation playoff competitions during his career, further adding to his experience of competitive football in Cyprus.
Before moving abroad, Asamoah played for Ghanaian clubs Great Olympics and Ebusua Dwarfs. He joined Ebusua Dwarfs in October 2020 following a spell without a club before making the switch to Great Olympics the following year.
Standing at 1.78 metres, the left-footed midfielder primarily operates in central midfield but is also capable of playing from the left side.
His arrival provides Ethnikos Assias with another experienced option in midfield as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the new campaign.
The transfer was completed without a fee, with Asamoah beginning a new chapter of his career in Cyprus after four seasons with MEAP Nisou.
