The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to organise a Licence D Coaching Course in the Central Region from 14 to 21 September 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots football and raise coaching standards across the country.
The eight-day programme will be held at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, where aspiring coaches will undergo a combination of classroom-based instruction and practical training.
The course is designed primarily for individuals at the beginning of their coaching careers, providing them with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to take their first steps towards becoming qualified football coaches.
A key component of the programme will be GFA/FIFA Safeguarding training, which will focus on the protection, welfare and development of young footballers.
The safeguarding sessions will equip participants with a better understanding of their responsibilities when working with children and help promote safe and supportive environments for young players.
The Licence D course forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to developing a stronger pool of qualified coaches across Ghana. Through structured coaching education, the Association hopes to enhance the ability of coaches to identify, nurture and guide emerging talent at grassroots level.
Participants will take part in both theoretical and practical sessions throughout the programme. The combination of classroom learning and hands-on coaching is expected to give them a solid foundation for future work within the game.
Beyond acquiring technical knowledge, the course will also provide aspiring coaches with an opportunity to begin building professional pathways in football. The GFA continues to emphasise the importance of developing the human resources responsible for nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian players.
The programme will be supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Head of Coach Education Dr. Prosper Nartey, who will provide technical leadership and oversee the delivery of the course from 14 to 21 September.
The Cape Coast programme is expected to benefit both the participating coaches and the wider football community by combining formal education, practical experience and safeguarding awareness.
The initiative forms part of the GFA’s continuing national drive to increase access to quality coaching education, develop qualified coaches and build stronger foundations for the future growth of football in Ghana.
