The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to organise a Licence D Coaching Course at Bompeh Senior High School in Sekondi-Takoradi from 23 to 30 November 2026.
The eight-day programme will provide aspiring coaches in the Western Region with an opportunity to gain the technical knowledge and practical experience required to begin their coaching journey.
The intensive course will combine classroom-based theory with practical training, with a focus on equipping participants with the fundamental coaching tools needed to identify, develop and nurture young football talent at the grassroots level.
Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of coaching while gaining practical experience that will help them understand how to work effectively with emerging players. The programme is intended to provide a strong foundation for individuals taking their first steps towards a career in football coaching.
A key component of the course will be GFA/FIFA Safeguarding training, which will focus on the responsibilities coaches have towards the safety, welfare and development of young footballers.
The safeguarding sessions will emphasise the importance of creating safe and supportive football environments for children, while helping participants understand the standards and responsibilities expected when working with young players.
The programme will be supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Head of Coach Education Dr. Prosper Nartey, who will provide technical direction and oversee the delivery of both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course.
Bompeh Senior High School will serve as the venue throughout the eight-day programme, which forms part of the GFA’s broader efforts to strengthen coaching education and grassroots football development across the country.
Beyond technical instruction, the course will also expose participants to the wider responsibilities associated with working with young players. The combination of coaching education and safeguarding training is expected to give aspiring coaches a balanced foundation in both player development and protection.
The GFA believes the programme will equip participants with essential tools to identify and nurture emerging talent while preparing them for the next stage of their coaching development.
For many of the participants, completing the Licence D course will represent an important first step towards building a career in football coaching and contributing to the development of the next generation of Ghanaian footballers.
