The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has unveiled a major package of logistical support for Colts Clubs as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots football development and improve the environment for young footballers across the country.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced the initiative at the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The package is designed to provide Colts Clubs with essential equipment for matches and training while supporting the continued development of young talents within Ghana’s grassroots football structure.
As part of a partnership with Hoshi International, marketers and distributors of X1 Energy Drink, the GFA has secured 3,000 footballs for distribution to Colts Clubs nationwide.
The donation complements the Football Association’s annual investment of US$100,000 in the procurement of footballs for grassroots football, ensuring that young players have access to basic equipment needed to improve their skills.
The partnership with Hoshi International will also see 15,000 jerseys distributed to Colts Clubs across the country ahead of the new season.
In addition, the clubs will receive 15,000 pairs of casual shoes, further expanding the logistical support available to the grassroots football system.
Under the new arrangement, each Colts Club will receive 10 footballs every season for the next three years. Every club will also be provided with two sets of football bibs per season during the same period.
The GFA said the initiative represents a sustained practical investment in grassroots football and will help maintain the Colts system as an important pathway for identifying, nurturing and developing young football talents in Ghana.
The launch ceremony brought together members of the GFA Executive Council, Regional Football Association Chairmen, Colts legends, club representatives, national team coaches and other key stakeholders in Ghana football.
Among those present were KGL Foundation Programmes Manager Nii Sarpei, GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Juvenile Committee Chairman JoeSalam Abubakar and former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan, himself a product of the Colts football system, was among the former players whose presence highlighted the significant role grassroots football has played in producing talents for Ghana.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for administrators, technical officials, partners and club representatives to reaffirm the importance of the Colts system in developing players capable of progressing to the national teams and representing Ghana at the highest level.
