Ghana has commenced the process of assembling its squad for the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with 60 players selected from the two zones across the country set to undergo screening.
The players will be assessed in two groups as the technical team begins the search for the strongest candidates to represent Ghana in the continental qualifying campaign.
The first group, comprising 30 players from Zone I, will report to Laboma Beach on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for screening.
The remaining 30 players will undergo their assessment at Keta Beach on Thursday, September 10, 2026, as the technical team evaluates their fitness, technical ability and overall suitability for the national team.
The screening exercise is expected to help the coaching staff identify the best performers before reducing the number of players for the next phase of preparations.
Those who make the cut will enter an intensive training programme ahead of Ghana’s opening qualifier against Nigeria, in what promises to be a crucial early test for the team’s ambitions of reaching the continental finals in Senegal.
Ghana will travel to Nigeria for the first leg of the first-round tie, scheduled to be played between September 18 and 20, before hosting the return fixture between September 25 and 27, 2026.
The winner of the two-legged encounter will advance to the second round of the qualifying campaign, where they will be joined by 12 nations that have received byes from the opening round.
The teams in the next phase will battle for places at the continental finals, with the qualifying campaign ultimately determining the seven nations that will join hosts Senegal at the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
A total of 16 countries are expected to compete for the seven available qualification slots, while Senegal have already secured automatic qualification as hosts.
For Ghana, the screening exercises at Laboma and Keta mark the first major step towards building a competitive team for the qualifiers.
With Nigeria standing in their way of reaching the next stage, the technical team will now concentrate on assessing the 60 invited players before selecting the reduced squad that will begin the final preparations for the September fixtures.
