Cypriot club Ethnikos Assias have completed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder George Assamoah, with the 28-year-old set to begin a new chapter in his career.
Assamoah has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season and is expected to play an important role as Ethnikos Assias prepare for the challenges ahead.
The Accra-born midfielder joins from MEAP Pera Choriou Nisou, where he established himself as a regular member of the squad in the Cypriot second tier.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Assamoah made 14 starts, gaining valuable experience in a competitive league and further strengthening his knowledge of Cypriot football.
Primarily a central midfielder, Assamoah can also operate as a defensive midfielder and left-back, giving his new club additional options across the pitch. The left-footed player’s versatility is expected to be one of his key assets at Ethnikos Assias.
Having spent several years playing in Cyprus, Assamoah is already familiar with the country’s football environment and will be hoping that experience helps him settle quickly and make an immediate impact.
The Ghanaian has developed a reputation as a hardworking and disciplined midfielder who can contribute at both ends of the pitch. His ability to perform in multiple positions could prove valuable to Ethnikos Assias throughout the campaign.
His experience in the Cypriot second division should also serve him well as he takes on his latest challenge. With the 2026/27 campaign expected to be fiercely contested, Assamoah will be eager to play a key role in helping his new club achieve its objectives.
The former MEAP player will now turn his attention to establishing himself at Ethnikos Assias and delivering consistent performances for the club.
For Assamoah, the move represents another opportunity to showcase his abilities and continue representing Ghanaian football on the European stage.
He will be hoping to make his latest chapter in Cyprus a successful one and contribute significantly to Ethnikos Assias’ ambitions throughout the 2026/27 season.
