Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has backed promising youngster Alex Banso to become a future star of Ghanaian football while urging supporters and the media to give the teenager time to develop.
Kapor made the comments after Banso delivered an impressive performance in Hearts of Oak’s commanding 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their opening game of the season.
The youngster played a key role in the emphatic win, providing an assist as the Phobians made a strong statement on the opening weekend.
Kapor believes Banso’s versatility, composure and ability to operate in dangerous areas could see him develop into an important player for both Hearts of Oak and the Ghana national team.
“He’s a future of Ghana football, and I want Ghanaians to be calm with him,” Kapor said.
The Serbian tactician has consequently called on supporters and the media to avoid placing excessive expectations on the youngster, stressing that he needs the necessary time and environment to mature as a footballer.
“He is a young, good player and he can operate from all positions that are close to dangerous areas,” Kapor added.
“He is very good and very calm boy, which is very good for him. But I am also begging you to calm down and let's see. I am praying we will get from him in the future,” he continued.
Kapor also credited Hearts of Oak’s intensive pre-season training for Banso’s impressive showing, explaining that the club’s preparation has helped put the squad in good condition ahead of the new campaign.
With his versatility and early impact already attracting attention, Banso will now look to build on his promising start as Hearts of Oak continue their pursuit of a successful season.
For Kapor, however, the priority remains clear: allow the youngster to develop naturally without the weight of premature expectations.
