Hearts of Oak will aim to maintain their perfect start to the Ghana Premier League season when they host Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Sunday.
The Phobians have enjoyed an impressive opening to the campaign, securing victories over Bibiani Gold Stars and Berekum Chelsea in their first two matches.
Those results have seen Hearts score six goals while conceding just once, giving head coach Nebojsa Kapor plenty of encouragement ahead of their third league fixture.
Kapor believes the strong start has boosted confidence within the squad, particularly following the victory over regional rivals Bibiani Gold Stars.
“Very important thing is, like you said, our confidence level is very high because of two victories, especially the victory against Bibiani, which is the derby match, and I am sure these three points will give us a lot in future,” Kapor said.
The Serbian tactician is eager for his players to maintain their momentum and believes their growing belief in the team’s approach can help them continue their winning run.
“Our confidence level is very high, and players are really believing in everything we are doing, and I'm sure we will continue our winning path,” he added.
Bechem United, meanwhile, travel to Accra looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Karela United last Sunday.
The Hunters’ away defensive record could be a concern, having conceded in each of their last seven away league matches.
New head coach Kobina Amissah will therefore be hoping to improve his side’s defensive organisation and guide them back to winning ways.
Recent head-to-head meetings have generally favoured Hearts of Oak. In their last six encounters since December 2023, the Phobians have recorded three victories, while Bechem United have won once, with the other two matches ending in draws.
The most recent meeting between the sides ended goalless in February 2026.
With Hearts of Oak brimming with confidence and Bechem United searching for a response, Sunday’s encounter promises to be an intriguing contest at Legon.
The Phobians will be targeting a third consecutive victory, while the visitors will be determined to end Hearts’ perfect start to the campaign.
