Former Ghana defender John Paintsil has moved from the Black Stars technical team to take up a new role as assistant coach of the national Under-20 side, the Black Satellites.
According to an official notice from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, September 21, Paintsil, who previously served on the technical staff of the senior national team, will continue his coaching development with the country’s youth setup.
The former Fulham, Leicester City and West Ham United full-back joins the Black Satellites as they begin preparations for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Paintsil’s appointment forms part of the GFA’s ongoing technical restructuring aimed at improving focus, coordination and efficiency across Ghana’s various national teams.
The former Black Stars defender brings valuable experience from his playing career at both international and club level, having represented Ghana at major tournaments and played in the English Premier League.
His experience and leadership are expected to contribute to the development of the young players as the Black Satellites prepare for their upcoming continental assignment.
The new role also provides Paintsil with an opportunity to further develop his coaching career at youth level while helping Ghana build a competitive squad for next year’s Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
