Ghana captain Jordan Ayew says he is delighted to have completed his move to Sheffield United and is determined to help the club enjoy a successful season.
The experienced forward has signed a one-year contract with the Blades after the Championship club moved quickly to secure his services as a free agent.
Ayew expressed his appreciation to the club and manager Chris Wilder for their efforts in completing the deal and bringing him to Bramall Lane.
“I’m really, really pleased to be here. The manager and the club made a great effort to get me here as quick as possible, so I want to thank everyone for their support and for them to bring me over to the Blades and hopefully we’ll have a great season,” Ayew said.
The 34-year-old revealed that Sheffield United’s environment reminds him of his time at Crystal Palace, where he spent several successful years in the Premier League.
“It reminds me a bit of where I was a few years ago, and that was obviously Palace, so a bit similar. I really like it, and I’m really looking forward to the season and getting to know more about the club as well.”
Ayew brings a wealth of experience to Wilder’s squad, having played extensively in both the Premier League and Championship.
The Ghana captain is now focused on settling into his new surroundings, building relationships with his teammates and making a positive contribution as Sheffield United target a strong campaign.
With his experience, leadership and versatility in attack, Ayew will be hoping to quickly establish himself as an important figure for the Blades.
