Ghana captain Jordan Ayew says he has joined Sheffield United with a strong desire to make an immediate impact and help the club achieve its ambitions this season.
The 34-year-old completed his move to the Blades on Tuesday, signing a one-year contract after leaving Leicester City as a free agent.
Ayew revealed that the transfer came together quickly after he received a phone call from Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder while he was in Ghana.
“It happened really, really quick because I was in Ghana and the manager called me last week.
“I didn't think twice; I just took the opportunity.”
Having completed the move, Ayew is now looking forward to contributing to a Sheffield United squad he believes has the quality and potential to enjoy a successful campaign.
“The most important thing is for me to help the team and obviously for us to have a great season.
“I have a lot of desire this season to make an impact and to help the team because we have a good squad and there's a lot of positive things we can do.”
Ayew arrives at Bramall Lane with a wealth of experience, having made more than 500 competitive appearances throughout his career.
The Ghana international has represented several clubs across Europe, including Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
His experience, leadership and attacking ability are expected to add further quality to Sheffield United's squad as the club targets a strong season.
