Bibiani GoldStars head coach Petros Koukouras has admitted his team were left frustrated after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United on the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
GoldStars were unable to take anything from the encounter despite Koukouras believing his side deserved at least a point based on their performance.
The Greek tactician, however, has urged his players to learn from the setback and ensure the mistakes that contributed to the defeat are not repeated.
“First of all, all of us were very frustrated because we couldn't pick up at least a point from that game, though we deserved to pick something from that game,” Koukouras said.
“But as I always say, when we lose a game, not everything is wrong, and when we win a game, not everything is perfect.”
Koukouras revealed that the team has already reviewed the performance with the players as they prepare for another challenging fixture against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
“So we have to make a deep analysis with the players to see what went wrong. We have discussed it, and hopefully, moving forward, not repeat the same mistakes.”
GoldStars will be hoping to respond immediately when they welcome Hearts of Oak to Dun’s Park.
The Phobians will arrive in confident mood after making an impressive start to the campaign with a 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea.
Koukouras has already acknowledged the quality of the visitors and expects a difficult encounter, describing Sunday’s fixture as one of the important derbies of the season.
GoldStars will therefore be determined to put their opening-day disappointment behind them and secure their first points of the season in front of their home supporters.
