Bibiani GoldStars forward Kwame Opoku remains confident that the Miners can turn their season around despite suffering consecutive defeats in their opening two Ghana Premier League matches.
GoldStars were beaten 2-1 by Hearts of Oak at Dun’s Park on Sunday, following a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United on the opening day.
The Miners looked set to secure their first points of the campaign after Opoku fired them into an early lead in the 11th minute.
However, Hearts of Oak produced a strong response after the break, with Yaw Amankwa Baafi drawing the Phobians level seven minutes into the second half before Henry Kwaku Boateng completed the comeback just three minutes later.
GoldStars pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but could not find a breakthrough, leaving them without a point from their opening two fixtures.
Despite the difficult start, Opoku has urged his teammates to remain calm, stressing that there is still a long way to go in the campaign.
“I mean, it’s a long journey. We just started, and it’s just two games now, and I think we can turn everything around,” he said.
“Because you can start well and then end badly, and then you can start badly and end well. So, there’s no shaking at all. We’ll try to give our best,” Opoku added.
GoldStars will now turn their attention to their next league fixture as they seek to secure their first points of the season and begin their recovery from the disappointing opening results.
