Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe says he is confident that Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda will reach an agreement on a joint visa arrangement ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament will make history as the first edition of the AFCON to be jointly hosted by three countries, with matches scheduled to take place across the three East African nations.
Motsepe revealed that discussions between the relevant authorities are already underway and expressed optimism that a joint visa system will be introduced.
“I am confident that there will be a joint visa arrangement,” Motsepe said.
A coordinated visa arrangement would make it easier for supporters, teams and officials to travel between Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda during the tournament.
With matches expected to be staged across the three host countries, efficient cross-border movement will be an important part of the logistical planning for the month-long competition.
CAF is also monitoring preparations in other key areas, including stadiums, transportation, accommodation and training facilities, as the three nations continue their preparations for the tournament.
Motsepe has called on the governments, football associations and local organising committees of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda to maintain close cooperation to ensure the competition is delivered as one unified continental event.
The discussions on a joint visa arrangement form part of broader efforts to strengthen coordination between the three host nations and facilitate the movement of the large number of supporters expected to attend the tournament.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
