Ghana defender Nathaniel Adjei delivered another composed performance for FC Lorient despite the French side surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
The Black Stars hopeful played the full 90 minutes at the Stade du Moustoir as Lorient were forced to settle for a point in their Matchday Four encounter.
Lorient made a strong start to the game and appeared on course for a comfortable victory after scoring twice in the space of two minutes.
Ibrahima Baldé opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Noah Mbamba doubled the hosts’ advantage just two minutes later to give Lorient a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Toulouse responded strongly after the break, with Casper Tengstedt pulling one back just three minutes into the second half.
The visitors continued to push for an equaliser and were rewarded in the 68th minute when Thomas Jørgensen found the back of the net to complete the comeback.
Despite Lorient’s inability to hold on to their advantage, Adjei once again impressed at the heart of the defence with a disciplined and assured display.
The Ghanaian centre-back received a 7.0 rating for his performance and continues to establish himself as an important figure in the Lorient backline.
The draw leaves Lorient eighth in the Ligue 1 table with five points from four matches.
Adjei will now hope to retain his place in the starting XI when Lorient travel to face Le Mans FC at the Stade Marie-Marvingt next weekend.
His consistent performances could also boost his chances of earning a place in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia later this month.
