Ghanaian forward Nathaniel Opoku provided an assist as Leicester City Under-21s came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle Under-21s in the Premier League Cup.
The result gave Leicester a winning start to their campaign, with Opoku making an important contribution in an entertaining encounter.
Plymouth made the brighter start and took the lead after just 10 minutes. Caleb Roberts finished off a move created by Riley Carr to put the visitors ahead.
Leicester gradually grew into the game and found their equaliser in the 38th minute through Hugo de Lisle.
The hosts then completed the turnaround shortly before half-time, with Opoku providing the assist for Michael Golding, who fired Leicester into a 2-1 lead in first-half stoppage time.
Leicester continued to dominate after the restart, controlling 75 percent of possession and creating the majority of the chances.
Their pressure eventually paid off again in the 67th minute when Sam Hayman turned the ball into his own net to extend Leicester’s advantage to 3-1.
Plymouth struggled to respond and managed just one shot on target throughout the match as Leicester maintained control to secure a comfortable victory.
For Opoku, the assist represents another encouraging contribution as the Ghanaian forward continues to develop and push for greater recognition within Leicester City’s academy setup.
