Nations FC will begin their UMB Division One League campaign this weekend with their sights firmly set on an immediate return to the Ghana Premier League following last season’s relegation.
The MTN FA Cup holders have strengthened their squad ahead of their promotion push, while newly promoted sides Ebiemo FC, Fetterman FC and Pro Sports Academy prepare to make their debuts in Ghana’s second tier.
Ebiemo FC secured promotion from the Western Region, Pro Sports Academy emerged from the Ashanti Region, while Fetterman FC earned their place in the Division One League from the Central Region.
Nations FC head into the new campaign following a disappointing preliminary-round exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, with head coach Zdravko Logarusic now turning his attention to achieving a strong domestic season.
The club have also undergone significant changes following the departure of several key players, including Razak Simpson, Emmanuel Annor and Faisal Charwattey.
There will be fierce competition in Zone Two, with established sides such as King Faisal, Rospak FC, Elmina Sharks, Skyy FC, Ebusua Dwarfs and PAC Academy all hoping to make a strong start to the campaign.
Nsuopon Fidelity will also begin their campaign this weekend, adding further competition to what promises to be a highly contested zone.
Nsuopon Fidelity will face Future Stars at the Dominase Astro Turf on Friday, while Nations FC travel to the Ampain AAK Arena to take on newly promoted Ebiemo FC.
Sunday’s action will see King Faisal host Rospak FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, while newly promoted Fetterman FC will make their Division One League debut away to Elmina Sharks in Elmina.
New Edubiase United will also begin their campaign on the road when they visit Ebony FC at the Mohammed Kamil Arena on Sunday.
