Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo believes Medeama SC still have what it takes to overturn their first-leg defeat to TP Mazembe and keep their CAF Champions League dream alive.
The Ghana Premier League champions suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to the Congolese giants in the first leg of the preliminary round at TNA Park on Sunday.
Medeama will now travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo this weekend for the decisive second leg, but Oduro Sarfo insists the tie is far from over.
🗣️ “It is not over for Medeama,” he told Asempa FM.
“I think they can go there and make a statement. They should motivate themselves, go there and cause an upset just like what Mazembe has done in the first leg.”
Oduro Sarfo also believes Medeama's recruitment during the summer transfer window gives the Tarkwa-based club enough quality to fight back in Lubumbashi.
🗣️ “With the recruitment Medeama has done, I think they can go and make a statement,” he added.
Medeama will need to produce a strong away performance and overturn the one-goal deficit if they are to progress to the next stage of Africa's premier club competition.
The Tarkwa-based side are targeting a return to the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time since the 2022/23 season. 🇬🇭🏆
