Ghanaian midfielder Rashid Abubakar has completed a move to Omani side Saham Club after leaving his previous club as a free agent.
The 26-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract with Saham that will run until May 31, 2027.
Abubakar’s move was completed on September 18, 2026, with the midfielder joining Saham’s squad in the Jindal League. No transfer fee was involved in the deal.
Born in Accra, Abubakar has built an international club career spanning Ghana, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Oman, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
He most recently played for Mash’al, whom he joined in February 2026 from Kazakhstan side Atyrau on a free transfer. He became a free agent on July 1, 2026.
Before his move to Mash’al, Abubakar spent time with Atyrau and Ordabasy. His transfer to Atyrau in July 2025 was also completed without a fee, while he joined Ordabasy from Spartanii in January 2025 for a reported €40,000.
Earlier in his career, the right-footed midfielder featured for Bahla Club, Al-Soqour Club and FK Loznica.
Abubakar began his senior career with Ghanaian club Accra Lions, joining from HLJ Ice City in October 2021 after previously spending time on loan.
The 1.78m midfielder primarily operates in central midfield and has accumulated appearances across several leagues and domestic cup competitions during his career.
He has recorded 27 Premier League appearances, scoring once and providing two assists, while also featuring in the Premier Liga, Jindal League, Serbian SuperLiga and Prva Liga Srbije, as well as the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premijer Liga.
Abubakar’s highest recorded market value has been €125,000, while his current valuation stands at €100,000.
The Ghanaian now begins a new chapter in Oman with Saham Club, having secured his services through the end of May 2027.
