As we approach the grand finale of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, it is the perfect moment to reflect on a tournament filled with passion, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
The love and incredible support shown by Rwandans throughout the competition have been truly remarkable. From one match to another, stadiums were filled with passionate fans who created electric atmospheres and reminded everyone that football is much more than a game — it is a powerful force that brings people together.
👏🏾 Every club that took part in this year’s tournament deserves recognition. The determination, competitiveness, and quality displayed by the teams made the competition special.
A special appreciation goes to His Excellency President Paul Kagame for his continued support and commitment towards the growth and development of sports in Rwanda.
I also extend my gratitude to Mr. Fabrice Shema, President of the Rwanda Football Federation, for the warm hospitality and for hosting this prestigious tournament in this beautiful country.
Special recognition goes to CECAFA President Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam and the Eritrea Football Federation for their vision, leadership, and efforts in strengthening regional football.
This year’s edition has highlighted the enormous potential of the CECAFA Kagame Cup. With plans to expand the tournament, welcome more teams from COSAFA, WAFU, and other regions, while increasing prize money, the competition has the opportunity to reach new heights.
