English-born Ghanaian winger Sam Amo-Ameyaw produced a stunning second-half cameo to inspire RC Strasbourg to a commanding 6-2 victory over Troyes at the Stade de l'Aube on Sunday evening.
The former Southampton attacker was introduced from the bench with around 30 minutes remaining and made an immediate impact, scoring twice in a sensational three-minute spell to help Strasbourg seal an emphatic away victory.
Troyes made a fast start to the contest, with Antoine Mille breaking the deadlock after just nine minutes.
Strasbourg, however, gradually found their rhythm and turned the game around before half-time. Jacobo Ortega and Diogo Sousa struck within two minutes during the final five minutes of the opening period to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break.
Giovanni Reyna extended Strasbourg's advantage after the restart before Amo-Ameyaw took centre stage.
The 20-year-old produced a moment of individual brilliance for his first goal, weaving his way through three defenders before firing the ball into the net.
He completed his brace just three minutes later to put Strasbourg firmly in control and make it 5-1 before the 90th minute.
There was still time for further drama, with Conrad Harder adding Strasbourg's sixth goal before Jeremy Le Douaron scored a late consolation for the hosts.
Amo-Ameyaw's brace represents his first goal contribution of the new season after three matches and provides a timely boost as he looks to establish himself as an important figure for Strasbourg.
Despite representing England at youth level, the winger remains eligible to play for Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars, should he eventually choose to switch his international allegiance.
His explosive performance in Troyes will undoubtedly strengthen his credentials as he continues to develop his career in French football.
