Former Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has returned to the club to begin his coaching career, joining Juliano Belletti’s coaching staff at Barça Atlètic while completing his coaching qualifications.
The 38-year-old will work closely with Barcelona’s emerging talents, including Ghanaian duo Abdul Aziz Issah and David Oduro, who are both part of the reserve team setup.
Issah, a Ghana international forward, joined Barcelona’s B team from Dreams FC, while left-back Oduro made the move to the Catalan giants from Accra Lions. Both youngsters are continuing their development with Barça Atlètic as they aim to establish themselves in European football.
Busquets’ arrival provides the Ghanaian prospects with the opportunity to learn from one of the most accomplished midfielders in Barcelona’s history.
The former Spain international spent 15 seasons with Barcelona’s first team, making 722 appearances and playing a key role during one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.
During his illustrious career at Camp Nou, Busquets won nine LaLiga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies, alongside numerous other major honours.
His vast experience as a deep-lying midfielder could prove particularly valuable to the young players as he begins his transition from professional footballer to coach.
For Issah and Oduro, the opportunity to work closely with a Barcelona legend could provide another important learning experience as they continue their development at one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.
Busquets will now look to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation while taking his first steps towards a career in coaching.
