Ghana’s University for Development Studies (UDS) have successfully defended their African university football title after defeating Julius Nyerere University of Guinea 2-1 in the final in Cairo on Wednesday.
The victory sees UDS make history as the first university in African university football history to win the continental championship in consecutive editions.
The Tamale-based institution has continued to establish itself as a dominant force in university football, both on the continent and globally.
UDS also made history in 2025 by becoming the first African university to win the FISU World University Football Championship, further highlighting their impressive rise on the international stage.
The Ghanaian side booked their place in this year’s continental final with a commanding 4-0 victory over Egypt’s Delta University in the semi-finals.
Their latest triumph represents another major milestone for Ghanaian university football and further cements UDS’ status as one of the continent’s leading university football teams.
With back-to-back African titles and a historic global championship success already to their name, UDS continue to raise the standard of university football in Ghana and Africa.
