Tariq Lamptey’s time at Fiorentina appears to be coming to an abrupt end just a year after his arrival.
The 25-year-old joined La Viola from Brighton in June 2025 on a four-year deal worth around €6 million, but injuries have derailed his season. After only two appearances, he ruptured his ACL in his first start for the club — an injury that has kept him out for most of the campaign.
Reports now indicate that Lamptey and Fiorentina are in talks to terminate the contract, with an official split expected soon.
The timing is a major blow for the Ghanaian defender with the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon. Lamptey was a key member of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 tournament in Qatar and would have been pushing for a place in North America. However, his ongoing fitness problems and lack of minutes have cast serious doubt over his involvement.
Neither Lamptey nor Fiorentina have commented publicly yet, but all signs point to an imminent departure.
