Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has emerged as a reported transfer target for Israeli top-flight side Maccabi Haifa following his departure from Spanish club Real Oviedo.
The 28-year-old central midfielder became a free agent on July 1, 2026, and is now being considered by Maccabi Haifa as the club continues to assess its options in midfield.
No agreement has been reached and no transfer fee has been reported, meaning the potential move remains at the rumour stage.
Sibo featured for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making four appearances and starting 75 percent of the matches he played. He featured for 69 percent of the available minutes but did not register a goal or assist during the tournament.
His most recent club was Real Oviedo, whom he joined from SD Amorebieta in July 2024. During his time with Oviedo, Sibo made 26 La Liga appearances and also accumulated 73 appearances in Spain’s second tier throughout his career, scoring twice.
The midfielder has also gained experience in England, where he played for Watford and made 20 Premier League appearances, contributing three goals and two assists.
Sibo has previously represented Betis Deportivo and UD Ibiza in Spain, while also featuring for clubs in Albania and Armenia earlier in his career.
His current market value is estimated at €1.4 million. However, as an unattached player, Sibo is free to negotiate directly with interested clubs without the need for a transfer fee.
Maccabi Haifa’s reported interest could therefore provide the Ghana international with an opportunity to begin a new chapter in his career following his departure from Real Oviedo.
