Ghanaian attacker Prince Ampem produced a sensational second-half display as Shanghai Port came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Wuhan Three Towns in the Chinese Super League.
Ampem scored twice within four minutes to turn the game around and help Kevin Muscat’s side claim three valuable points on the road.
Shanghai Port made a difficult start at the Wuhan Sports Center Stadium, falling behind just three minutes into the game when Jhonder Cádiz fired Wuhan Three Towns into an early lead.
The visitors struggled to create clear-cut opportunities before the break and went into half-time trailing by a goal.
Shanghai Port, however, came out with renewed purpose after the restart and quickly found a way back into the contest.
Zhen Wei equalised in the 50th minute before Ampem took centre stage five minutes later, firing Shanghai Port into the lead.
The Ghanaian winger then completed his brace just four minutes later, finishing off an assist from Oscar Melendo to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage.
Wuhan Three Towns reduced the deficit in the 75th minute through Antoine Leautey, setting up a tense finish.
Shanghai Port, though, held firm during the final stages, including six minutes of added time, to secure a hard-fought away victory.
Ampem’s influential display earned him the Player of the Match award from Sofascore, where he received an impressive 8.2 rating and 73 percent of the fan votes.
His clinical finishing and decisive contribution proved crucial as Shanghai Port completed a comeback victory and strengthened their position in the Chinese Super League.
