*Foreign coaches at the World Cup*
1. *Ratomir Dujković - Serbia*
*2006*: Reached Round of 16. Beat Czech Republic and USA in the group, lost 3-0 to Brazil.
2. *Milovan Rajevac - Serbia*
*2010*: Reached quarter-finals. Best World Cup finish for Ghana. Beat Serbia, drew Australia, lost to Germany, beat USA, lost to Uruguay on penalties.
So yes, both foreign coaches took Ghana past the group stage. 741f
*Ghanaian coaches at the World Cup*
1. *James Kwesi Appiah - Ghana*
*2014*: Group stage exit. Beat Portugal, drew Germany, lost to USA.
2. *Otto Addo - Ghana*
*2022*: Group stage exit. Beat South Korea, lost to Portugal and Uruguay. 741f
That part checks out.
*2026 and Carlos Queiroz*
This is where the claim falls apart:
- *Ghana’s coach for 2026 is Otto Addo*, not Carlos Queiroz. Addo is Ghanaian and is the first coach to lead Ghana to consecutive World Cups.
- Queiroz was Ghana coach for the 2022 World Cup, but left after the tournament. He’s not in charge now. The reports naming him for 2026 are wrong.
- Ghana did beat Panama 1-0 in their opener, and they’re 2nd in Group L with 2 games left vs England and Croatia. But that’s under Addo. 36d07f43741fd047
*Why the trend exists*
The pattern got popular because Ghana’s two deepest runs - 2006 and 2010 - came under foreign coaches. But the sample size is small, and the 2026 situation doesn’t fit.
If Ghana do reach the knockouts in 2026, it would actually be a Ghanaian coach, Otto Addo, breaking the “foreign coach only” narrative.
